Performance and Tune Up
At
Ervine’s we approach engine running problems differently than many other
garages. We want to repair the
complaint, not perform what used to be called a "tune-up”. This procedure is outdated and doesn’t
really apply to any automobile on the road today. In almost all cases simply
replacing spark plugs and filters will NOT repair a serious running
complaint. Today’s vehicles utilize
complex fuel and ignition systems that can adapt themselves to worn out plugs
and plugged filters without the driver usually knowing. It is not good for your
vehicle to be driven in this condition hence the above mentioned replacing of
some items on your car are very important to maintain proper performance, fuel
economy and reliability.
Replacement intervals can be found in your owner’s manual and we call
also access that information for you through ALLDATA. When routine maintenance
is neglected, many very expensive parts, like fuel pumps, power steering pumps,
transmissions and catalytic converters will fail prematurely. For example, over 90% of the fuel pump
failures we see are caused by clogged fuel filters. The average cost of replacing a fuel
filter is approximately $50; the average cost to replace a fuel pump is around
$600. PROPER MAINTENANCE IS ALWAYS LESS
EXPENSIVE THAN REPAIRING NEGLECT!
If your vehicle has a “check engine or service engine soon” light on,
precise test equipment must be used to properly diagnose and repair the
complaint. At Ervine’s, we
continually purchase and update the latest diagnostic equipment to insure that
quick accurate diagnosis and repair can be made. For a compressive list of our
